Just plain sad

Marshall Brain, of How Stuff Works fame, has a bog called SadTech in which he describes various technologuies as "sad":

The point is, at any moment in history, people thought of themselves as cool and cutting edge and modern, even though we now look back on them as primitive troglodytes. Their technologies are pathetic when compared to the technologies that we have today.

Sadly (ha!), he seems to think that all the worlds problems will be solved by technology and that it will all be so easy. In the end, it seems like so many whiny observations rather than hard thinking or even informed thinking.
